AIS SIGHCI is the Special Interest Group on Human-Computer Interaction that is affiliated with the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Ping Zhang and Fiona Fui-Hoon Nah prepared a proposal that was approved by the AIS council in Spring 2001. SIGHCI then became one of the first six officially sanctioned SIGs announced in ISWORLD in July 2001.
AIS SIGHCI provides a forum for AIS members to discuss, develop, and promote a range of issues related to the history, reference disciplines, theories, practice, methodologies and techniques, new developments, and applications of the interaction between humans, information, technologies, and tasks, especially in the business, managerial, organizational, and cultural contexts.
The SIG's mission is twofold:
|
The topical coverage includes but is not limited to the following:
|
At the initial stage of establishment, AIS SIGHCI is governed by the chair and executive vice chair with the assistance of the other officers, under the supervision of the advisory board. This will continue until the bylaws are effective.
For a list of advisors and officers, go to SIGHCI's officer page at sig_officers
To become an official member of the SIG, you will need to join the Association for Information Systems (AIS) ($95/$60 per year for academic/student), and then join SIGHCI.
The cost for joining the SIGHCI is $10 per year. To check your AIS SIG memberships or to join SIGHCI, please go to http://www.aisnet.org/memfunct/sigMemberships.aspx.
AIS members from non-rich countries and all Ph.D. students can join SIGHCI for free. If you are an AIS member from a non-rich country or a Ph.D. student, please complete the membership form and email the form to Susan Lippert, VP of Membership, so she can process your membership.
If you have any questions regarding joining SIGHCI or your current membership, please contact our VP for Membership, Susan Lippert.
